Court to rule on Nigerian Universities disputes December 5th


A board of the National Industrial Court will deliver judgment in the dispute between the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Federal Ministry of Education on December 5th.

SSANU additionally joined the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission as
co-respondents. 

Justice Benedict Kanyip, who led two different judges to fix the date, said that the judgment before slated to be deliver on October 31 was not ready. 

"This case was slated for judgment today (Oct. 31), sadly, the judgment is not ready. We need to take another date, the case is in like manner adjourned until Dec. 5 for judgment," he held. 

The panel additionally requested that hearing notice be served on the Federal Ministry of Education, the principal respondent. 

The Association dragged the Federal Government to the National Industrial Court for asserted inability to respect a 2009 aggregate agreement with the union. 

The union said that it came to court in light of the fact that the assention had been breached. 

The union is requesting that the court offer elucidation to the statement in the understanding in regards to government giving assistance to Universities. 

As indicated by Chapter 2, Section X (i) of the Agreement, Universities should bear the full capital and recurrent cost of the University staff primary school.
