Residents of Assakio Development Area in Lafia, Nasarawa State were thrown into confusion on Saturday taking after the sudden appearance of an unusual cross five feet far from a central mosque in the community.
The mysterious sighting attracted a mammoth group from Assakio and its
environs with numerous appealing to God for absolution and favors.
A 15 year-old-young lady, Hajara Hussaini, in a interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, said she initially sighted the indication of a cross at around 8pm on Wednesday.
Hussaini, who said she had been sent on an errand by her parents, clarified that when she saw an interesting light, she as held by fear and hurried back home to alarm her mom, Matan Liman.
Affirming the occurrence to journalists, Matan said she had sent her little girl to visit her grandma. The moderately aged lady included that her girl saw the cross while coming back from the errand.
The Chief Imam of Assakio Central Mosque, Muhammed Iliyasu, who affirmed the occurrence, told the reporter that the presence of the cross inside the premises of the mosque was a divine revelation, attesting that "Jesus is also a prophet of God."
Additionally affirming the occurrence to our journalist, Very Rev. Micheal Dogo of the Evangelical Reform Church of Christ, Assakio, portrayed the presence of the cross as a sign of reconciliation in the community.
