A few people suspected to be Fulani herders on Sunday allegedly assaulted the ranch of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae.
The homestead is situated at Ilado Village in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was assembled that the hoodlums did not take anything on the homestead but rather torched five hectares of the ranch which, as indicated by a source, was the oil palm plantation.
Falae was grabbed in September 2015 by the herders yet was released three days after the fact following the intercession of President Muhammadu Buhari who requested the then Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomom Arase (rtd) to secure his release.
Falae's Personal Assistant, Captain Moshood Raji, (rtd) affirmed the incident to journalist.
He said the extent of the damage could not be ascertained at the time of his conversation with our correspondent.
Raji stated, "At around 6pm, I got a message from one of the cops appended to the farm that the farm has been burnt by some hoodlums.
"There was no laborer on the farm when the episodic incident happened in light of the fact that it was a Sunday.
"We have informed the Commissioner of Police. Around five hectares of the land were affected.
"The oil palm farm was affected and also a few sections of the yam and cassava plantation."
Whenever reached, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, said he didn't know about the occurrence.
In his response, Chief Falae said the herders were purposely destroying his ranch for reasons unknown, portraying the go about as noxious and evil.
He said this was the third time they would destroy his homestead, saying they additionally did it in January 2017.
He stated, "I don't know why the herders were destroying my homestead; they did it a year ago, they did likewise year before the last.
