JAMB withholds 111,981 UTME results


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) yesterday releaseded an announcement saying the consequences of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 111,981candidates were far fetched and would not be released until after an official request.

Ambode recommends 25-year imprison term for rapists


Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Monday recommended least sentence of 25 years for rapists, saying assault ought not be met with light sentencing.

Federal government begs SSANU, NASU, NAAT to suspend strike


The Federal Government has begged the Non-Teaching Staff of the Nigerian Universities to suspend the three months strike they set out upon since December 10 2017. 

Senator Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labor and Employment, put forth the interest in an announcement marked by Samuel Olowookere, the Director, Press in the service, on Tuesday in Abuja.

Fire razes over 600 shops at old Bida market


A raging inferno on Thursday night razed more than 600 shops at the old market in Bida, home office of Bida Local Government Area of Niger. 



It was reported that the fire, which began at around 8.30 p.m., pulverized merchandise and other property in the old market. 

Witnesses said firemen from the Bida Fire Service and Federal Polytechnic Fire Service couldn't get to the consumed area of the market as a few shops were still on fire. 

The reason for the inferno couldn't be ascertained as at the time this report. 

Mohammad Badugu, the Chairman, Bida Local Government, disclosed that the whole market was inundated in flame.
