Recession: Cleric urges Christians to pay tax

A minister, Rev. Ifeanyi Okonkwo, on Sunday urged Christians to pay their tax and different levy to contribute to endeavors to leave the country from the current economic recession.

In a lesson at the Anglican Church of Ascension, Enugu, Okonkwo said that
Nigerians could escape recession if citizens would pay their taxes and different levy.

The clericl criticised Christians, particularly traders that thought that it was hard to pay their tax deliberately.

Okonkwo said, "As Christ educates us to give what has a place with Caesar, to Caesar; and what has a place with God, to God.

"Christ Himself paid His tax while He was on earth.

"This is to demonstrate that God authorizes each person to add to the regular fund used as a part of building the general public and giving social administrations through paying of tax and different levy.''
