Community head, others arrested over Edo communal clash


Odionwere (town head) of Azagba community, Pa Samuel Arasomwan aged 84 and Pa David Igbinosun aged 78 including nine others have been arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command over communal clash that prompted the led of properties. 


They were seized after the police attacked the community in Uhunmwonde local
government range of the state.

A few assorted weapons and ammunitions were recovered from the community amid the strike. 

Pa Igbinosun said the one of the double barrel guns paraded belongs to the tenant in his home. 

Two Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) sustained shots amid a shootout with some gangsters in the community. 

State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Haliru Gwandu said the assault was aimed at mopping up arms and ammunition used to threaten innocent inhabitants of the community. 

Gwandu expressed that the Chief Priest (Ohen) of the group, Nosakhare Ogieriakhi, and a few seniors of Azagba community have been welcomed for addressing over the conflict in the community. 

A youth in the community who identified himself as Godfrey Owie blamed the Chief Priest for utilizing outfitted policemen and hooligans to assault the community over land deal in the Azagba. 

Be that as it may, the Chief Priest denied the assertion and faulted the former CDA administrator of attacking the group with hooligans that vandalized his Palace since he solicited him to give account from his ten years stewardship. 

Different suspects captured included Omoyelele Ajiro, Osazee Akhimien, Anighara Collins, Edugie Edwin, Monday Ovie, Osarekhue Osadolor, Daniel John, Augustine Okoh and Onaghise Pius. 

The suspects denied association in the communal fracas.
