No less than 1,022 individuals have fake letters of employment over the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State.
Aminu Aliyu, Head of Operations, Gombe Zonal office of the Economic and Financial
Crime Commission, EFCC, made this known to journalists in Gombe on Thursday.
Aliyu clarified that the organization unravelled the trick amid verification of appointments.
"The state government requested our participation which we readily obliged. Our officers found 1, 022 individuals were issued fake letters of employment over all the nearby government regions of Gombe state," he said.
The EFCC official said that each candidate included paid between N120,000 and N150,000, depending on the ministry of choice.
"This adds up to N13.162 million," he said.
As indicated by him, 16 individuals arrested in association with the crime will soon be arraigned.
"Those arrested and investigated will soon be prosecuted, while four business centres involved in production of fake reports had been sealed," he said.
Mr. Aliyu likewise said that EFCC recouped N968,000 from a wonder bank working without permit in Gombe.
