Road crashes drop to 5,707 in eight months

Road traffic accident in the nation dropped to 5,707 in the initial eight months of the year from 5,953 in the same time frame a year ago,

The Corps Marshal, FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, expressed this at a briefing on Sallah special patrol  and the beginning of the authorization of Speed Limiting Device.

He was cited in a statement to have said that despite the fact that the corps' achievement in accident diminishment amongst January and August 2016 was a change over what was recorded in the same time frame in 2015, the most recent figure of street mischances was unsatisfactory and must be cut down altogether.

As indicated by the Head, Media Relations and Strategy of the FRSC, Bisi Kazeem, the corps is sending 20,000 work force, 697 patrol vehicles, 283 motorbikes, 76 ambulances and 22 tow trucks for the Sallah patrol.

Oyeyemi said the road accidents examined demonstrated that from January to August 2015, a sum of 5,953 accidents were recorded, including 39,119 individuals in which 3,233 died and 17,189 individuals were safeguarded.

In the same time frame in 2016, an aggregate of 5,707 accidents were recorded, including 38,222 individuals, out of which 3,048 passed on and 17,446 others were protected.

He said, "Amongst January and August 2015, the corps secured 339,551 guilty parties for 376,391 offenses, contrasted with 421,816 wrongdoers captured in 2016."

He focused on the requirement for consistence with street activity laws and controls, saying the FRSC did not consider the upsurge in captures as a positive advancement.

The FRSC said it had migrated its appointee corps marshals and colleague corps marshals close by corps leaders to the field "where they are relied upon to help the assurance of officers and marshals on the ground for the 2016 Sallah uncommon watch."
