The Nigerian Navy has arrested seven people for alleged oil robbery in the Escravos pivot of Delta State.
The Director of Information of the Nigerian Navy, Commodore Christian Ezekobe, said
in an statement on Saturday that six of the suspects were arrested amid an assault by a group from the Operations Base, Escravos at Sara Creek, Delta State on September 7, 2016.
He said the patrol team annihilated three Cotonou boats weighed down with an unquantified stolen crude oil.
Ezekobe said that the patrol team also recovered ‘one speed boat, a Cotonou boat carrying 15×10,000 liters and 2 x 5000 liters GP tanks laden with suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas oil’ from the suspected oil thieves.
Also said to have been recovered from by the patrol team were three outboard engines and four pumping machines.
