Woman incurs N.3m bail for allegedly assaulting co-tenant


A 30-year-old lady, Vivian Ottah, who purportedly struck her co-tenant, Modupe Lawal, by pounding on her into a bloody mess was, on Wednesday, charged in an Ikeja Magistrates' Court.

Ottah, who dwells at Olalubi Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, is confronting a charge of assault.


Police Prosecutor, Simeon Ihonwa, told the court that the accused conferred the offense on June 22 at her residence.

Ihonwa said the denounced struck the complainant over an undisclosed contention they had.

"She pulled the complainant's hair and beat
her. Endeavors by co-tenants to settle the issue fizzled,'' he said.

Ihonwa said the complainant announced the case to the police and the accused was arrested.


The offense, he stated, negated Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The accused, be that as it may, argued 'not liable' to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, conceded the accused bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like whole.

She said the sureties should indicate confirmation of duty installment to the Lagos State Government.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case till September 14.
