The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday said the motivation behind why he is not using a bullet-proof car was a direct result of scarcity of funds in the state.
He said his administration was eliminating the cost of governance in arrangement with financial substances in Nigeria.
"I am the legislative leader of Edo State. I am qualified for bulletproof car, however I have not gotten it since we can't bear the
cost of it," Mr. Obaseki said when the state branch of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, went to him at the Edo State Government House, Benin City.
Mr. Obaseki said he was usinog the official vehicle left behind by his predecessor.
The governor, who said he was dodging 'inefficient spending,' included that his administration has gotten a female mechanic who was renovating old government vehicles.
He additionally denied that the state government owed retired people.
The governor approached the nearby government committees in the state to give records of their salary and use profile for as long as 10 years "to empower the retired people see how the local government cash was spent."
The state Chairman of ANAN, Felix Ahonsi, complimented Mr. Obaseki on his exertion towards human and infrastructural development in the state.
Mr. Ahonsi said ANAN was prepared to work together with the administration in the regionn of accounting, auditing and training.
