Man sentenced for stealing fowl


A Senior Magistrate's court sitting at Iyangaku in Ibadan, on Monday sentenced one Ibrahim Yahaya to 20 hours community service for stealing two fowls. 

The Senior Magistrate, Mrs. Munirat Giwa-Babalola, who passed on the sentence after Yahaya conceded to stealing two cows, requested that the punishment be served across over four days at five hours for each day. 

Ibrahim, an occupant of 30-30 area of Bodija, had been summoned over a one-count of burglary of two fowls. 

As indicated by the Police Prosecutor, Mr Oluseye Oyebanji, the convict, on July 20, stole two fowls esteemed at N4,000,
belonging to Oladele Abiodun, an inhabitant of Kemidere zone 1, Bodija, Ibadan.

"Ibrahim, subsequent to taking the two fowls, stuffed them in a sack yet was later caught by a security work force, Emannuel Imoudu, along Bodija street. 

"This offense is contrary to segment 383 and culpable under segment 390 (3) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol II, Laws of Oyo State 2000," he said.
