EFCC set to arraign former OAU vice chancellor for affirmed misappropriation


Former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Anthony Elujoba, is relied upon to be summoned today (Friday) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over affirmations that he stole N1.4 billion while in office. 

A year ago, Mr Elujoba was investigated by agents of EFCC at its Ibadan zonal branch for purportedly occupying the aggregate implied for projects without endorsement of the school's governing board or federal ministry of education.

He was particularly said to have utilized the cash to pay illicit remittances to staff including himself through it. 

He has been detained since Thursday by the anti-graft commission, and his worldwide travel permit seized. 

In spite of the fact that he is blamed for wrongdoing by the EFCC, Mr. Elujoba is prominent among staff and students at the
university, who trust he is being witch-chased for conveying regularity to the establishment amid the brief time frame he was in office.

His wife pleaded that her husband be saved the humiliation. 

In the interim, the Public Relations Officer of the university, Olarewaju Abiodun said that the university will sit tight for Friday's trial. 

"When we get to the court tomorrow (today) we will know what else to do, we will make strides however first we should get to the river first," Mr. Abiodun stated, communicating sadness at the improvement. 

A few students have likewise concocted a campaign via social media #EFCCFreeElujoba in evident solidarity with the beset professor. 

The EFCC said it got the petition against Mr. Elujoba in December 2016.
