A 10-year-old kid has lost his life while more than 2,000 individuals have been displaced by a flood calamity that assaulted Kaita town, in Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State, a nearby authority said on Monday.
"The flood catastrophe happened following an overwhelming rain that lasted for a few hours which demolished more than 150 houses in the region," Hajiya Umma Abdullahi-Mahuta, Acting Sole Administrator of the local council.
She uncovered that those displaced by the Saturday flood have discovered asylum with neighbors, companions and relations.
"We have evaluated the degree of the harms and sent a report to the State Emergency Management Agency for fast
intervention on the issue." she said
Likewise, the District Head of Kaita, Alhaji Abdulkarim Kabir, engaged the Katsina State Government to give alleviation materials to the casualties.
“I am calling on Non-Governmental Organizations to also come to the aid of my subjects, by providing all necessary assistance to the victims to cushion their hardship.”
One of the casualties, Malam Isah Kaita, approached the State Environmental Protection Agency to start evacuation of waste in the territory to stay away from a recurrence.
