Herdsmen invades prison farm center in Benue, kills prisoner

The Benue Prisons Service on Monday affirmed that herdsmen attacked its Jato-Aka Farm Center and killed a prisoner, Tersoo Agidi.

Stephen Nwanchor, the Public Relations Officer of Benue Prisons Service said that the incident occurred on Saturday at the farm center.

Mr. Nwanchor said the intrusion was not a failed jail break attempt.

"This is another farm center set up in January, 2017. The herdsmen attacked the place, devastated property, shot and killed one Tersoo Agidi, a prisoner.

“We have evacuated all the remaining inmates from the farm centre to Gboko, pending the outcome of the investigation.

“We are not taking anything for granted. My Controller of Prison is on top of the issue, and all relevant security operatives in the state have been notified,” Mr. Nwanchor said.

The PRO said the administration was
researching the intrusion to discover the remote cause, taking note of that no capture had been made up until this point.

Mr. Nwanchor said the administration had fixed security in and around every one of its offices in the state, guaranteeing that there was no reason for alert.
