Court sends Kano artist to jail over new song


A court has remanded the troubled Kano artist, Sadiq Zazzabi, over his recently released song. 

The artist was summoned before the censorship court in Kano for purportedly abusing the state's control board law which requires that a song or movie ought to pass a censor screening before it is released. 
Sadiq released his song before the endorsement of the control board. 

Be that as it may, the artist disclosed that he was being focused on in view of his support for previous Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso. The legislature denies the affirmation. 


Mr. Kwankwaso and incumbent Governor Abdullahi Ganduje have been inconsistent with each other, and their supporters have frequently conflicted. 

A summons seen, said Sadiq was to present himself at the court at 10 a.m. Wednesday to defend himself for propelling a song that was before the board. 

The administrator Kano state censor board, Ismaila Afakallahu, affirmed that Sadiq will stay in jail till Friday. 

"The sitting occurred today and Sadiq was made a request to be remanded in jail until Friday when the court will continue hearing looking into the issue," he said. 

He demanded the matter was not about governmental issues. 

"Yes he really brought the song for censorship and before we can give him an certificate of endorsement, he proceeded to release the song. For doing that he has blamed the censor's board law and we are charging him for that. 

"Censoring a movie or song can take up to three weeks or additionally relying upon the intricacy of the tune or film."
