MMM-Nigeria', a group of common financial aid and donation, on Saturday gave relief materials worth N5 million to two Internally Displaced Persons camps in the Federal Capital Territory.
The gesture was a part of the group's philanthropic week labeled 'MMM cares' to
mark its first anniversary.
The Gwoza and Bama IDP Camps situated in Durumi zone and the New Kuchingoro IDP camp were the two recipients of the relief materials.
Sacks of rice, beans, garri, and in addition depiction of refreshments and noodles, were some of the things gave by the group.
The group likewise gave apparel, drugs, and educational materials to the students among them.
A Guilder in the 'MMM Community', Mr. Seyi Bello, said the donation was motivated by the craving of the group to influence the general public emphatically, particularly the less-privileged.
He said, "We are marking our first year anniversary and we have chosen to come and commend it with our siblings, moms and children in the camp.
"As a group, we don't just give assistance to our individuals, we additionally extend that to the bigger society as a major aspect of our social obligation.
"In this season of economic recession, the IDPs are the ones that need assistance and support more than whatever other individual; that is the reason we went to them today," he said.
Bello clarified that other than giving help and gifts to its individuals, compassionate administration was a lead program of the group.
He said that the relief items were purchased from free-will of individuals in their quest to touch lives emphatically.
He said, “The N5 million was raised from voluntary donations my members in the FCT.
“That is what defines us as a community of people providing financial help to each other on the principle of reciprocity and benevolence.
“In MMM there are no lenders and no debtors. One participant asks for help, another one helps.’’
Bello appealed to individuals, groups and corporate bodies to always remember the IDPs across Nigeria, since government alone would not be able to provide for them adequately.
He said, “They are our brothers and sisters who have left the comfort of their homes and are now struggling for survival here.
“No matter how little, let us always extend a hand of help to them to complement what government and other donors are doing.”
The General Secretary of the IDP camp at New Kuchingoro, Mr. Enoch Yohanna, who got the things, expressed appreciation for the gesture which he depicted as `timely.'
He said, "The Christmas season is close; we express gratitude toward MMM-Nigeria for conveying these things to us.
"We would like to share them tastefully among us for everyone to be upbeat and have a cheerful Christmas festivity."
The visit to the IDPs camps was gone before by a two-hour natural sanitation by individuals from the gathering on Nyanya/Mararaba highway, a suburb of the FCT.
Individuals from the group turned out in their numbers to clear trash from drainage and streets in the zone.
