Six individuals , including a mother, three of her children and two of their neighbors on Tuesday lost their lives in Ogaminana range of Okene in Kogi State after eating a feast produced using cassava flour.
The Public Relations Officer of Adavi Local Government, Abdulhamid Salahudeen, told
journalists that three of the casualties passed on Tuesday at the Okene General Hospital while the lady and two of her children had earlier died on Monday in their home.
He said that the lady passed on close by three of her children, two children and a little girl
According to him, two male children of her neighbor that shared in the meal likewise passed on .
He put the ages of the five dead children at somewhere around 9 and 15 years.
Mr. Salaudeen said that the mother had at night of Sunday, October 30 brought the cassava flour (white Amala) from her farmland at Ohuepe town.
He said that the lady arranged a supper from the yam flour for the family and extended the sustenance to her neighbor.
The officer said the casualties later went to bed however created extreme stomach torment throughout the night which later brought about the passing of the lady and two of her children.
He said that neighbors who detected that the sudden passings may be because of the cassava flour supper immediately surged the staying three kids that shared in the eating to Okene General Hospital where they died on Tuesday.
Mr. Salaudeen said that the authority of the local government trusted that the cassava flour was harmed and had informed the police for proper activity.
A senior nursing officer at the Okene General Hospital, who talked on state of anonymity, affirmed the passing of the three casualties at the doctor's facility on Tuesday .
The attendant said that the casualties were brought late Monday evening.
