The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force have arrested a commercial transport driver for impersonating the police. The suspect, Faith Sunday John, 32, claimed he was an Inspector appended to the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.
The suspect, from Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, was arrested on Wednesday, while extorting cash from a few individuals from the NURTW in Oshodi.
Investigations revealed that both the cardigan and identity card found with him, belongs to his late father who was an Assistant Superintendent of Police before he died a year ago in Lagos.
He expelled his late father's international ID from the Nigerian Police Force identity
card and re-laminated his own particular travel permit on it.
As indicated by the suspect "I was working with a security organization (King David Security Limited) before my dad died a year ago.
The owing of a few compensation overdue debts by this organization incited me using my late father's Nigerian Police uniform and identity cards to coerce cash from Lagosians during the night around Oshodi."
