Obaseki sacks environment commissioner, retires waste management board GM


The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday sacked the Commissioner of Environment and Sustainability, Mr. Reginald Okun, and retired the General Manager, State Waste Management Board, Mr. Aiyamenkue Akonofua. 

An announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq, said Governor Obaseki coordinated that the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Mrs. Obahiagbon RE be redeployed. 

As indicated by the statement, the governor directed the influenced authorities to "handover their assignments to the most senior government official in their workplaces with quick impact and handover all administration property in
their ownership to the suitable specialists."

The administration did not give purpose behind the sack and redeployment, but rather it was accumulated that it was regarding road sweepers' dissent and poor treatment of decline in Benin city.
