Hip-pop star, Innocent Idibia, prominently known as 2face, has said he gave the aggregate of N3.5m to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, since he needed to "put smiles" on their faces.
TuFace made the gift through United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, in Lagos
Speaking amid the presentation of the cheque in Lagos, the music star said that he was especially
touched when he went to IDPs camps in the North-East.
He stated, "The conditions I met the inside uprooted people, when I went to their different camps were shocking. They were truly awful.
"The 2Face Foundation has, along these lines, chose to go into association with the UNHCR to perceive how we can help put favors the characteristics of these people. My establishment is today displaying this check to the UNHCR to bolster it in its operations of reducing the sufferings of these IDPs," he included.
Complimenting the music star for the motion, UNHCR's Acting Country Representative to Nigeria, Ms Brigitte Mukango-Eno, called for a greater amount of such backings to empower her office touch lives in the North East.
Spoken to by UNHCR's External and Donor Relations Officer, Hanson Tamfu, Mukango-Eno, said "We truly need to express the appreciation of the UNHCR to 2Face. This is a correct stride toward our private sector taking after.
"Over these years, it has turned out to be critical for us, as an association, to rely on upon the private area, for us to have the capacity to meet our duties. 2Face has scored an imperative objective by finding the UNHCR Office inside the UN system.
"We need to utilize this chance to engage other private Nigerians and altruists to copy this motion by the 2Face Foundation in easing the states of the IDPs in the North East."
